Clause 8.2StrengthenedMedium impact typical effort 4-8 hours
Emergency preparedness aligned with risk planning
What changed in the 2026 revision
Emergency preparedness must now align with risk planning (Clause 6.1.4). Emergency scenarios should be identified through both the aspects register AND the risk assessment.
What auditors will look for
Expand emergency preparedness to cover scenarios identified through BOTH your aspects register and risk assessment. Include climate-related emergencies (flooding, extreme weather), supply chain disruptions, and infrastructure failures. Ensure emergency preparedness aligns with your risk planning under Clause 6.1.4.
How to close the gap
- 1Cross-reference emergency procedures with risk register
- 2Add climate-related emergency scenarios
- 3Ensure emergency drills cover the expanded scope
- 4Document the link between risk assessment and emergency preparedness
