Terms of service

Last updated: April 2026

1. Service overview

EMSist provides an AI-powered gap analysis tool that scans environmental management system (EMS) documents against the requirements of ISO 14001:2026. The service generates compliance reports including readiness scores, clause-by-clause findings, and implementation recommendations.

2. Important disclaimer

EMSist is a guidance and analysis tool. It is not a substitute for professional environmental consultancy, legal advice, or certification body auditing.

Our reports are based on AI analysis of the documents you provide. While our compliance engine is calibrated for accuracy, results depend on the quality and completeness of the documents uploaded. EMSist does not guarantee certification readiness, audit outcomes, or regulatory compliance.

EMSist is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), any national standards body, or any certification body.

3. Account and access

You must provide a valid email address to use the service. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account. Free readiness checks are limited to one document and three compliance rules. Paid tiers provide expanded access as described on our pricing page.

4. Payments and refunds

Payments are processed securely by Stripe in GBP. Prices are as listed on the pricing page at the time of purchase.

  • One-time reports (£149): Non-recurring. Refundable within 7 days of purchase if the service does not deliver value — email [email protected].
  • Consultant subscriptions (Starter £49/month or £490/year; Pro £149/month or £1,490/year): Recurring. Cancel anytime from your account or by emailing us. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. No partial refunds for unused portions of a billing period. Starter includes 10 full scans per calendar month; the allowance resets on the 1st of each month.

5. Your documents

You retain full ownership of all documents you upload. By uploading documents, you grant EMSist a limited, temporary licence to process the document text solely for the purpose of performing the gap analysis during your scan session.

Uploaded files are written to disk only for the seconds it takes to extract their text, and are deleted immediately afterwards. We do not retain, copy, or log the contents of your uploaded files. See our privacy policy for full details on data handling.

6. Your reports

Scan results and generated reports are owned by you. You may use, share, modify, or distribute your reports as you see fit, including providing them to clients under white-label arrangements (consultant tier). EMSist retains no rights over the content of your reports.

7. Acceptable use

You agree not to:
  • Upload malicious files or attempt to compromise the service
  • Use automated tools to scrape or overload the service
  • Resell access to the service without a consultant subscription
  • Misrepresent EMSist reports as official ISO certification or audit documentation

8. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, EMSist shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the service, including but not limited to failed audits, certification delays, regulatory penalties, or business losses. Our total liability for any claim shall not exceed the amount you paid for the specific service giving rise to the claim.

9. Service availability

We aim for high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. The service may be temporarily unavailable for maintenance, updates, or due to circumstances beyond our control. We will endeavour to provide notice of planned downtime.

10. Changes to terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via email to registered users at least 14 days before taking effect. Continued use of the service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
